Activision Blizzard employees commit more than $1.6 million USD to charities
In December, Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick and President and COO Daniel Alegre announced the Holiday Giving Initiative, which provided each Activision Blizzard employee with $200 USD (or local equivalent) to donate to a charity of his/her/their choice. Quickly embraced by employees, this holiday initiative resulted in the commitment of more than $1.6 million USD to 3,211 charities from 8,013 employees of Activision Blizzard, Activision Publishing, Blizzard Entertainment, and King.
In announcing the initiative to Activision Blizzard employees, Kotick and Alegre shared that:
“At Activision Blizzard, we recognize our responsibility to give back to the communities where we operate. From developing pathways for veterans' employment to fighting racial inequality to supporting pivotal healthcare programs, we are committed to making a difference. We believe that we can truly connect and engage the world in ways that no other company can, with purpose and meaning. We continue to be grateful for so many of you who share our commitment to change the world in lasting ways.
We want to honor the past year of giving with one more philanthropic endeavor for this unique year when people are in need more than ever: we are contributing company funds as well as reallocating funds that were earmarked for year-end company events towards an Activision Blizzard Holiday Giving Initiative.”
The Initiative follows contributions from Activision Blizzard, Kotick, and Alegre to the United Negro College Fund, the Equal Justice Initiative, and the Management Leadership for Tomorrow in June 2020.
Empowering our team members was at the core of this campaign. By partnering with the charitable donation platform, Benevity, we were able to provide employees with a choice of donating to nearly two million non-profits worldwide. Here are a few stories about the organizations our team members supported:
